Aged Photo Revisited
After being asked to make “3 or 4 versions to choose from” for the history of aprons poster, I decided to turn the Aged Photo Tutorial I found into an action. I posted it to download here for all my followers.
Hint: use a black brush on the Grain layer’s maskto brush away some of the vertical lines.

Tutorial: Skin Tone Correction
vanillachailatte:
I made this tutorial simply to answer one of the questions on my Tumblr Ask. It was about how I do skin tones on my photos. Quoting the girl who left me the questions asking about this particular topic, ”the skin tone thing”.
Disclaimer: This tutorial is by far the most useless thing you’ll find in my blog ever. I apologize in advance for the majority of my readers who, I’m...
New Year's Resolutions
A friend of mine visited my office today and asked what my photographic resolutions were for the new year. His, he said was to make more time for shooting personal projects and to finally get all of his negatives scanned, retouched and stored digitally. A project he has actually stuck with so far, he said.
It got me thinking about my resolutions. Aside from hitting the gym (the same resolution I...

'Tis the Season
This holiday season please don’t forget that there are many people who are less fortunate than us. It’s a great time of year to give back and help your fellow man. There are hundreds of charitable organizations that you can get involved in, either by donating or just volunteering some time.
Here are a few of the local charities I’ve worked with along with a link to their...
Cool Site: LensHero.com
After realizing that I needed a break from this afternoon’s work, I began scrolling through my dash where I came across ronniebruce’s link to LensHero.com.
If you’re like me and haven’t visited this site yet, you should. The interface lets you choose your camera, budget and shooting preferences and then suggests various lenses. It even lets you input the lenses you already...

Photoshop Becoming a Microsoft Product? →
PLEASE ADOBE NOOOO!!!
skump:
Oh lawdy, what won’t Microsoft buy out? This acquisition may include Adobe Flash, so we may see some optimization improvements for Windows and Flash if this were to actually go down, but good LAWD there goes Photoshop!
Adobe really knows what they’re doing with Photoshop in every aspect. They keep the interface generally the same in every iteration and usually...

Did you know you can lock a layer in Photoshop?
Not only can you lock down a layer to prevent any edits, you can lock the actual pixels or the transparent areas.
On the layers palette near the upper left, there are 4 lock options.
Option 1: Lock transparent pixels
This lock prevents any edits on transparent pixels. You can still paint, clone, adjust any non-transparent pixels without worrying about filling in transparent areas of the...

Photoshop Tip of the Week
Did you know you can increase or decrease brush sizes using the bracket keys?
Open bracket ( [ ) decreases brush size, while close bracket ( ] ) increases. Add the Shift key as a modifier to adjust the brush hardness.
You can also cycle through brushes using the greater than/less than keys (< >). Use the Shift key with this shortcut to jump to the first brush or last brush on your list.
