Ok, someone asked me how to edit or at least open gifs (and how to convert videos clips into gifs) using photoshop. Usually, when you open a gif in photoshop, it will only show a single layer of the gif. So here’s how you should open gif files using photoshop:
LEVEL OF EXPERTISE: Must be at least knowledgeable in making animations.
FIRST STEP:
Open your photoshop. I am using CS3 extended. I am not sure if it works the same with the older or newer versions. Then, click FILE > IMPORT > VIDEO FRAMES TO LAYERS.
SECOND STEP:
Type the name of the GIF file you want to open. Take note: even though the format of files photoshop is asking are avi, mpg, or mpeg, you can still open the gif file by just typing its file name. Normally, the file would appear on the drop down, all you have to do then is select. After you’ve seen and selected the gif file, click LOAD.
THIRD STEP
To see the layers of the GIF file, click WINDOW > ANIMATION.
FOURTH STEP
Feel free to put anything you want in each text layers. You must at least have a background in animations/gifs here.
*you could also open and edit movies or video clips and convert them into gifs by just following the steps above. Just make sure photoshop supports the file type of those videos.
**I am not sure if there are other ways, but this is what I know.
